Class of 1979 40th Reunion

Dear Class of 1979,

It’s hard to imagine 40 YEARS have passed since we walked across that stage in Loyd Auditorium and received our diplomas. Perhaps you have been back many times for the lectures, or Makin’ Music performances (remember our being the eggs in ‘78), or for other occasions. Or, perhaps time and distance have made it hard to return.

Either way, I hope you can come to campus Nov. 8-10 and celebrate with us. Forty years is a milestone anniversary. Come Friday morning, if you can, and let's sit together in chapel, and then eat lunch together. The reunions of Natural Sound and the T-Birds will be a great concert that night.

I have so many special memories: Brigance 107 (no longer with us, but still in our hearts), the frequently painted lion at the back of Gano, the Walkathon of 1976 (I think our class raised the most money), The Lectures and great speakers, the "Cold wave of 1977” when they turned the heat down in all buildings to conserve energy, devotionals and much, much more. Bring your favorite stories and pictures, and pictures of your family, and come be with us for the 40th anniversary of the class of 1979.

Feel free to email me at donwill55@yahoo.com, or Ron, my twin brother (ron@lincolnchurch.org) if you have any questions. I look forward to seeing you in Henderson very soon!

Because of Him,

Don Williams
1979 Class President

This adaptation of Charlotte Perkins Gilman’s short story chronicles the slowly decaying mental state of a wife and mother whose well-meaning husband discourages her from writing as a cure for her “temporary nervous depression.” Feeling trapped in her bedroom, the woman discovers a figure trapped in the wallpaper of the room. Her efforts to free this figment drive her mad. A psychological thriller and a cautionary tale, “The Yellow Wallpaper” is directed by Jessica Clevenger and designed by Brandyn Graves.

They’ll just have to borrow, beg, and band together to get it done. Amidst the noise and color of Elizabethan London, THE BOOK OF WILL finds an unforgettable true story of love, loss, and laughter, and sheds new light on a man you may think you know. When the legendary pastor of Houston’s Rock Baptist Church decides to retire, an up-and-coming preacher answers the call to fill the great man’s place behind the pulpit. The trouble starts when the church’s aging leader clings to his own dynasty -- and his coveted 10 a.m. television broadcast. Rambo’s play balances the temptations of worldly success, empire building, and church politics with the desire for true faith and personal integrity. Directed by David Fonville.

The routine of a mid-19thcentury Shaker community is shaken when a young convert has an ecstatic experience. Her visions ignite a spiritual awakening and soon all the young women are receiving spiritual “gifts” that challenge religious orthodoxy. Set within the music and dance of traditional Shaker life, “As It Is In Heaven” beautifully portrays the sincere search for wonder within the life of the spirit. Directed by R. Cliff Thompson.

The First FHU Play of the Season---Twelve Angry Jurors

On Aug 24th there will be a performance at 2;00 pm also.

FHU Theatre's first play of the season features FHU faculty, staff, and alumni in a powerful retelling of the 1957 film "Twelve Angry Men."

Behind closed doors, tensions run high as a lone juror argues the innocence of a teenager accused of murder. In this provocatively resonant American drama, 12 jurors from all walks of life revisit the evidence, debate the issue of reasonable doubt, and confront each other's personal biases. A story as relevant today as was the 1957 film that inspired it.
